Don
Camp has come to know the glamour capitals of the world
intimately, photographing the world's rich and famous.
And name just about any celebrity - Liz Taylor, Bill
Gates, even the Pope - and chances are Camp has taken
his or her picture, up close and personal.
It seems Camp
has always had the temperament to hang with celebrities.
He grew up amid the chaos of the wild Haight Ashbury
and headed straight to UCLA after high school. Once there,
he didn't study much. Instead, he played keyboard in
a rock band that gigged up and down the Vegas/Nevada
circuit throughout the late '60s and early '70s. When
his friends urged Camp to try acting, he did; he appeared
in just about every celluloid staple of popular culture,
from Starsky and Hutch to Planet of the Apes to Charlie's
Angels.
Within a few short years, Camp was photographing
launch parties and movie premieres, and by 1980 he had
landed the event that would catalyze his career: the
Cannes Film Festival.
