Jeffrey
Mirkin is a producer/writer with extensive television
industry experience, with the majority of his expertise
in the area of reality TV and game shows.
He has produced or written over 1,000 hours of U.S. broadcast
television.
Jeff recently entered the world of televised
poker, packaging and Executive Producing GSN’s
$10 Million Poker Tour. Prior to his latest success,
Mirkin served over four years as Senior Vice President
of development for FremantleMedia North America. During
his tenure, Fremantle has developed
and produced the smash hit AMERICAN IDOL as well as a string of well regarded
and highly rated game shows including WHAMMY for GSN,
BEAT THE CLOCK for PAX-TV and CARD SHARKS for the syndication
market.
During this time, Mirkin also had the opportunity
to work as Executive Producer for the re-make of LET’S
MAKE A DEAL which aired on NBC as well as Executive Producing
THE CHAMBER for Fox-TV.
In 1999, Mirkin worked extensively
on the development and production of the Dick Clark Productions
hit game show GREED. He was responsible for the day to
day operations of the show as well as selecting all the
material and contestants as Supervising Producer of the
44 episode Fox show. While working on that successful
project, Mirkin also co-created and produced SMARTEST
KID IN AMERICA, an acclaimed Fox special and was Supervising
Producer of $64,000 Question, a game show pilot for CBS.
Before
Mirkin got Greedy, he ran the shows I DO…I
DON’T, a relationship game show produced by 20th
Television for Fox Family Network and was the Executive
Producer of THE REAL DIEHL, a courtroom show pilot starring
renowned attorney Bill Diehl for Studios USA.
Prior to
that, Mirkin was the Coordinating Producer for the smash
hit prime time CBS show KIDS SAY THE DARNDEST THINGS,
starring Bill Cosby. He also worked extensively as Coordinating
Producer of SURPRISE, SURPRISE! starring Kathy Lee Gifford
and WORLD’S FUNNIEST PETS, two
CBS TV specials from LMNO Productions.
Skilled at keeping
many balls in the air at once, Mirkin was also able to
act as Executive Consultant on JUDGE MILLS LANE for Rysher
Television and MORAL COURT for Stu Billett Production.
Mirkin additionally developed and Executive Produced
DESTINY, a high stakes prime time game show pilot for
UPN through King World Productions.
Among his many credits,
Mirkin was Supervising Producer of RUMORMILL, a comedy
game show pilot he developed for Universal Domestic Syndication.
He also developed and was Executive Producer of BLACKJACK
BOWLING, a gambling oriented game show for Game Show
Network. Prior to that, he created and was Supervising
Producer of BZZZ! a dating game show for syndicated through
Tribune Broadcasting.
Before getting BZZZ! on the air,
Mirkin worked with Sony New Media, a leader in the marriage
of new media with traditional television shows, where
he was responsible for content and game flow for the
perennial hit THE DATING GAME as well as consulting on
design and content for the JEOPARDY! and WHEEL OF FORTUNE
web sites.
Mirkin has also been the Executive Producer
for BE MY DATE, a hidden camera show from Universal.
Mirkin honed his development skills as Director of Development
for WORLDWIDE SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT, where he was
charged with developing game, gambling and reality shows
for the US while staffing and training local personnel
in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for ASTRO, a DBS service operating
in Southeast Asia.
Additionally, Mirkin produced the pilot for the remake
of the THE NEWLYWED GAME for Columbia Tri-Star TV. Previously,
he was Director of Development for Edwards/Billett Productions,
where he created and oversaw the production of TRUTH
OR TABLOID, a highly acclaimed talk show spoof starring
the late newsman Jerry Nachman for Group W Syndication.
Mirkin
helped create, wirte and produce the hit show STUDS for
Fox Television. He also served a two year stint in the
television packaging department at TRIAD ARTISTS.
Mirkin
cut his teeth by spending two years as a writer on the
long running syndicated smash THE LOVE CONNECTION and
several years in various positions on THE PEOPLE’S
COURT. |
